Sonia Eidse began her recording career at age 15 when, after winning the Manitoba Country MusicAssociation’s 2006 Country Singer competition at age 14, she recorded “Once Upon a Heart”. At such a young age, this was the culmination of 7 years of vocal training, talent shows, and major roles in theatre and the Winnipeg Fringe Festival.
She has performed at the Winnipeg Folk Festival the past three years running.
Sonia has been honoured with accolades in every competition she has entered, including winning Gold for musical theater at the Canadian National Dance Championships.
More recently Sonia performed at Pantages Theatre during Aboriginal Music Week's Rising Stars Concert.
Her strongest influences include Coldplay, Kate Bush, and Canadian Bands Broken Social Scene, Sam Roberts and Metric.
“When I see a young performer who not only has loads of talent but has also dedicated herself to developing her craft and skills, my heart sings at the world of possibilities open for such an artist. Sonia Eidse is one such individual. ' -Heather Bishop
'Sonia is a budding talent -- both her songwriting and voice draw the listener in, leaving one wanting to hear more.'
- Cara Luft (The Wailiin Jennys)
“Winnipeg’s own Sonia Eidse is a sweet songwriter with the ability to craft memorable melodies. She’s only 18-years-olds so be sure to watch for her in the next couple of years cause I still can’t get her choruses out of my mind.”
