A New (well...old) Name and a Brand New Recording

I hope that you are all having a wonderful summer.  I think I may have seen some fallen leaves in my yard today, but I'm not even going to talk about that.  Our summer was so late starting and the sting of the coldest Winnipeg winter in history is still quite raw.  I'm planning on enjoying the rest of the warm weather and don't plan to wear long pants OR socks until it's much cooler outside.

Speaking of cool, I think it's pretty cool that I have decided to go back to my maiden name.  The return to Patti Kusturok has been like slipping into an old, comfy pair of pajamas and I like how it fits.

2014 marks forty years that I've been playing the fiddle, and those years have been loaded with countless Milestones.  Meeting and playing with my fiddle heroes...people like Reg Bouvette, Ned Landry, Ivan Hicks, Graham Townsend, Al Cherny, Calvin Vollrath; entering into the wonderful world of fiddle camps and having the opportunity to spread some great Manitoba tunes across the continent; deciding to change my life by having weight loss surgery and subsequently losing 120 pounds; losing both parents; falling in love; falling out of love; watching my son develop into a wonderful fiddle player in his own right.  I could go on and on, but I'm sure you get the drift.

To pay homage to these and other life events, I've decided to title my latest album simply, "Milestone."  I love reflecting on past milestones, but even more exciting, I look forward to having more!  The first forty years of fiddling has taken me to places I never dreamed I'd see, led me to experience things I'd never do, and has introduced me to people who have changed and touched some part of my life.  I wonder what the next forty years has in store!  I can't wait to find out.

The physical CD is now available.  Please visit my web site to download a copy or to order a physical CD.  Jeremy Rusu has worked his magic once again and has left me astounded at the depth of his musical talents.  He is truly a genius.

I hope to see you down the road before the end of the year, and hope you enjoy the new recording, "Milestone."
