CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Aboriginal Music Program Hallway Showcase at the Manito Ahbee Festival

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 4pm, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2007

The Aboriginal Music Program will be hosting a Hallway Showcase at the MTS Centre on Saturday, November 3, 2007 during the Manito Ahbee Pow Wow. The showcase will give 4 bands the opportunity to play one 45-minute set each.

Showcase details:
DATE: Saturday, November 3, 2007
TIME: 1pm - 5pm
LOCATION: Upper Concourse Level, MTS Centre
FEES: MARIA defines showcases as opportunities for artists to perform for business purposes (book more performances, perform for industry professionals, etc...) and no performance fees will be paid.

The main purpose of the showcase is to help Aboriginal bands promote their music to Aboriginal community members who purchase talent for events throughout the year. Last year, the Hallway Showcase earned Highway 373 a number of gigs and gave others the opportunity to push CD sales from their trade show booths.

The showcase is open to bands of three pieces or more because the space is quite open and doesn't lend itself well to solo performances.

MARIA will be marketing the showcases directly to talent buyers and Aboriginal community leaders.

To be eligible for a showcase spot, you MUST be a MARIA member. Becoming a MARIA member is easy and you can complete the online membership application at www.manitobamusic.com. The MARIA membership form is also attached.

If you are interested in showcasing, please submit the following: • One-page Biography • 20-word Biography for the showcase marketing piece • Promotional Photo (printed 8x10 OR digital 300 dpi) • Two songs on CD for the jury to listen to

Submissions will be rejected if incomplete.

Submit material by mail or in-person by 4pm, October 10, 2007 to:
