Applications now available for the 24th Annual NCI Jam

NCI FM now has application forms available online for the 24th annual NCI Jam. The amateur singing contest is scheduled for Saturday, September 11 at the Centennial Concert Hall in downtown Winnipeg and applications must be submitted by Monday, August 16, 2010.

Interested singers must submit a completed application form, a personal biography, a photo, and a home recording that demonstrates their ability. The selection committee will review these materials and consider the male/female ratio, regional representation, inclusion of new contestants, and type of song when selecting the contestants.

Up to 20 talented singers will be selected to compete in front of the capacity crowd. A jury of Aboriginal people working in the music industry will be in charge of picking the winners at the show.

The prizes up for grabs are:

First Place
• $2500
• Winning song will be played on the National Aboriginal Music Countdown
• NCI Jam trophy

Second Place
• $1500
• Song receives 75 plays on NCI FM
• NCI Jam trophy

Third Place
• $750
• Song receives 25 plays on NCI FM
• NCI Jam trophy

Fourth Place
• $100
• Sydney Castel Honorable Mention Award

Artists who have released recordings for sale are not eligible. Artists who play music for a living are not eligible.
