Local artists rally for the No Stone Unturned Concert

Kimberley Dawn is one of 13 Aboriginal artists scheduled to perform at the fourth annual “No Stone Unturned Concert” in Winnipeg on August 20. She’ll be joined by Heatbag Records, Sierra Noble, Wab Kinew, Storm X, Little Hawk, Stu Porteous, Sadie, and Hector Menow along with many others at the O'odena Circle from noon to 10pm.

The first “No Stone Unturned Concert” was organized to help Claudette Osborne’s family raise reward money for her safe return. Since then, event organizer Bernadette Smith has broadened the focus and used the annual event to raise awareness about missing and murdered women along with the horrors of human trafficking.

“As a First Nations woman I believe we all need to pull together to make a difference,” states Kimberley Dawn, a country artists performing at the concert this year. “I will be singing my hit single ‘Spirit of our People’ that evening, which I believe is the song to bring together a nation! WE need to pull together to stop these horrible acts that are being targeted to first nations women. We must all stand together!”

Funds are being raised this year to develop a toolkit, which will identify agencies and resources to help families search for missing loved ones or deal with greater tragedy.

North of 60’s Tina Keeper, NCI FM’s Rosanna Deerchild, Streetz FM’s Melissa Spence, and a number of other guests will be sharing the MC duties for the day. The Asham Stompers, Creations Fashions, and hoop dancer Jackson Beardy will also be lending their talents to the cause.

Please contact Bernadette Smith if you would like to help, make a financial donation, or donate an item for the silent auction.
