Now Taking Submissions for the Manitoba Aboriginal Artist Guidebook

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Thursday, September 16, 2010

Manitoba Music’s Aboriginal Music Program is producing a promotional directory to market Aboriginal artists from Manitoba to talent buyers and industry stakeholders at music industry festivals and conferences this year. The Manitoba Aboriginal Artist Guidebook will include a directory of artists making music in a wide range of genres (rock, country, fiddle, hip hop, pop, pow wow, etc). It will feature artist profiles, contact information for bookings, and a listing of recent releases.

The directory will be distributed widely through various music industry festivals and conferences, as well as directly to key players in the industry. The Aboriginal Music Program will get these booklets into the hands of managers, labels, agents, festivals, radio programmers, publicists, music journalists, as well as many others who can help your career.  

To be considered for the guidebook, you must: 
• Be of First Nation, Inuit, or Métis ancestry
• Live in Manitoba
• Have a current or upcoming professional release (demo / EP / full-length)
• Have professional promotional material (photos, bio, website or MySpace)
• Be a member of Manitoba Music OR be willing to become a member of Manitoba Music if your profile is included in the guidebook. For more information about Manitoba Music membership, visit manitobamusic.com or contact Rachel Stone (975.5190, rachel@manitobamusic.com).  

Preference and greater profile may be given to artists who: 
• Have great photos (hi-resolution and full colour photos that suit the genre of music)
• Have significant accomplishments to their credit

Submit by email to alan@manitobamusic.com with the following: 
• “Aboriginal Guidebook” in the subject line
• A link to a MySpace or other page where your music can be heard
• A 100-word biography or profile for yourself or the band
• A list of music-related accomplishments (awards, milestones, etc.)
• Two high-resolution digital photos
• Contact information for bookings: contact name, phone, email, and website
• A high-resolution scan of the album cover for your current of upcoming professional release (demo / EP / full-length)

Submissions will be rejected if incomplete
