Desiree Dorion, Wab Kinew, Daniel ROA, and Ryan D’Aoust are four of the Aboriginal artists that audiences in Ottawa will have a chance to see during the National Arts Centre’s Prairie Scene. The festival runs April 26 - May 8 in the Nation’s capital and more than 500 artists from Manitoba and Saskatchewan will take part.

Dauphin’s Desiree Dorion is scheduled for an April 28 performance at the Elmdale House Tavern. She’ll be appearing alongside Saskatchewan’s Code Prevost and tickets are just $10.

Composer Andre Balfour’s Camerata Nova takes the stage at the Rideau Chapel in the National Gallery of Canada on April 29. The performance starts at noon and tickets are $8.

Francophone singer/songwriter Daniel ROA joins the festival for a concert with fellow Manitoban Nadia Gaudet at the National Arts Centre on April 29. Tickets are $20 and the show starts at 7:30pm.

The masters of Métis fiddle take the stage at the Auditorium in the Library and Archive Canada building on April 30. Saskatchewan’s John Arcand and Donny Parenteau are joined by Norway House’s Ryan D’Aoust and Matthew Contois from the Misipawistik Cree Nation. The show starts at 7pm and tickets are only $10.

"Pow Wow step" originators A Tribe Called Red are scheduled for two performances during the Prairie Scene. The Ottawa-based DJ collective will entertain community members at the Odawa Native Friendship on May 7 at 1pm. They’ll be joined by hip hop artists Wab Kinew and Eekwol later that evening for a nightclub show at Ritual.

Oscar award winning songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie will be joined by Métis fiddle master Donny Parenteau for a concert at the Bronson Centre on May 7. The show starts at 8pm, tickets are $20 and Manitoba roots rocker Romi Mayes is also set to perform.
