Manitoba Music Folk/Roots/Americana Showcase in New York City

4pm CST Thursday, May 12, 2011
 
Manitoba Music is presenting a showcase of Manitoba folk, roots, and Americana artists at the Living Room in New York City. The showcase will take place between October 4 and 12, 2011. Confirmation of the date will be made after reviewing submissions.
 
This is an excellent opportunity to showcase for New York based music industry including influential folk and roots radio, labels, agents, and buyers. New York is the largest concentration of music industry personnel in the world and was the birthplace of contemporary folk music. Manitoba Music will work directly with each selected artist to identify members of the industry they are interested in inviting.
 
The showcase will be an evening event aimed at industry professionals but open to public. The showcase will take place at the venerable Living Room club in Manhattan.
 
To be considered for a showcase, you must:
  • Market yourself within the folk/roots/Americana genres
  • Have a current or upcoming release (demo / EP / full-length)
  • Be export-ready (prepared to capitalize on international opportunities)
  • Have financial capacity to undertake travel and accommodations (Market Access Program Support is available but will not cover full costs, artists must also access additional support)
  • Be a Manitoba Music member
Submit by email to showcases@manitobamusic.com the following:
  • “NYC Folk/Roots Showcase” in the subject line
  • A link to a site where your music can be heard
  • A rationale for how this showcase fits your development plan
  • Description of current team and an indication of which team members will attend the showcase
  • Current high resolution (300 dpi) image or link to where one can be downloaded
  • Short artist bio (approximately 200 words)
Submissions will be evaluated based on:
  • Music
  • Track record
  • Strength of team
  • Export readiness
  • Rationale for the showcase
