Three Nods for Manitoba Artists at Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards

Three Manitoba recording artists have picked up nominations for the 2011 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards (CAMA). The 13th annual awards are held in conjunction with the Canadian Aboriginal Festival, which runs November 17-20, 2011 in Toronto. The hardware will be handed out at a gala event on November 18 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

Building on a slew of recent nominations, Eagle & Hawk front man Vince Fontaine’s solo effort, Songs For Turtle Island, is up for Best Instrumental Album. The album won a Native American Music Award earlier this month, got a nod from the Indian Summer Music Awards, and is still up for Western Canadian Music Awards, Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards, and Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Newcomer Ali Fontaine is up for Best Female Artist for her self-titled debut, which already has three Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Award nods

Country singer/songwriter Jerry Sereda rounds out the Manitoba nominees with a Best Music Video nomination for “I Ain't Learned Nothing Yet”, which won a North American Indigenous Image Awards earlier this year.
