Don Amero wins at the Western Canadian Music Awards

Don Amero's latest album, Heart On My Sleeve, has earned him the hardware for Aboriginal Recording of the Year at the 2013 Western Canadian Music Awards. The winners in 21 artistic categories were announced at a Gala Awards Show in Calgary, Alberta on October 6.

Burnt-Project 1, Tracy Bone, George Leach, and Donny Parenteau round out the Aboriginal category nominees.

Kalan Wi, a British Columbia-based cultural group that features songs in the Lil'wat language, earned a nomination in the World Recording of the Year for their debut album, Celebrate.

Amero, Leach, Leonard Sumner, Marijosée, Spoils, Inez Jasper, Ghostkeeper, and bass player Marie-Josée Dandeneau participated in the BreakOut West festival.
