Aboriginal events and performances set for JUNO Week in Winnipeg

Desiree Dorion, Leonard Sumner, Winnipeg Boyz, Federal Lights, Cassidy Mann, Sierra Noble, marijosée, Inez Jasper, A Tribe Called Red, George Leach, and Amanda Rheaume will be taking the stage during the JUNO Week events in Winnipeg.

Dorion, A Tribe Called Red, Jasper, Leach, Rheaume, and Nathan Cunningham are also in the running for trophies at the JUNO Awards. The winners will be announced at the Gala Dinner on Saturday, March 29 and the televised award show on Sunday, March 30.

A Tribe Called Red is set to perform at the Gala Dinner, which will be streamed live at junoawards.ca for the very first time. The group is also listed as a special guest for Sunday night's televised show at the MTS Centre and tickets range from $39 - $189 at ticketmaster.ca.

APTN, NCI FM, and Aboriginal Music Week are partnering to produce the Aboriginal Nominee Honouring Ceremony on Saturday, March 29. Each of the six Aboriginal nonimees will be presented with gifts and acknowledged by members of the Aboriginal music community.

Rheaume and Eagle & Hawk's Vince Fontaine are also set to hit the ice for the JUNO Cup on Friday, March 28 at the MTS Iceplex. Tickets for the game are $20 and proceeds benefit MusiCounts, Canada’s music education charity associated with CARAS.

The best way to gain access to any and all of the shows is to purchase a JUNOfest wristband in advance and get to the venue before 11pm. The Aboriginal showcase at the Exchange Event Centre on March 29 will reach capacity quickly, so don't take your time getting to the venue.
