SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 4PM, Thursday, February 23, 2017

Manitoba Music and the ACI Manitoba have teamed up for the 2017 edition of the Youth Mentorship Program in Music Management. Aimed at young people interested in careers in the music industry, the four-month program provides 16 youth ages 16-19 with a chance to expand their knowledge of the industry and develop their own music business skills. Students participate in a series of workshops facilitated by local industry professionals covering different aspects of the music business, from touring to releasing albums to marketing and publicity.

The workshops help to develop the students’ practical skills, put to the test with a multi-genre music sampler and live concert. Coordinated, marketed, and promoted by the students themselves, the digital project will feature tracks from young Manitoba indie artists. It will be distributed to music industry professionals, music journalists, and local music fans. The live concert will feature several artists from the sampler, with the students organizing all aspects of the event.

The project is now accepting submissions from young Manitoba bands and solo artists. Three of the artists will also be selected to perform at the compilation release concert on May 10

Applicants considered for this opportunity must:

  • Be available to perform 5-6 songs of primarily original music live on May 10, 2017
  • Be under 25 years of age, or bands must include at least one member under 25
