While songwriter Don Freed has participated in several recording over the course of his impressive career, The Valley of Green and Blue is his first CD. Produced and mixed by Danny Greenspoon at Private Ear Recording, the album was mastered by David Travers-Smith (The Wailin’ Jennys, Jane Siberry) and features an impressive list of guest musicians. Dan Frechette, Richard Moody, Gilles Fournier, Sierra Noble, as well as Tania Elizabeth, Jordan McConnell and Leonard Podolak of The Duhks all make appearances one some of the album’s 15 tracks. Included in this CD “ When This Valley,” considered by many to be the Métis National Athem, recorded by a live Metis choir in the church at the National Historical Site at Batoche on June 21, 2005. A documentary of this live event is also in the works. www.donfreed.com
